Our History

Latinas Leading Tomorrow (LLT), is an Arlington-based nonprofit founded in
2004. Conceptualized by Latina students at Wakefield High School, with the support of their counselor Madeline LaSalle, they created an after-school program to address the growing needs of first-generation Latinas. Specifically, LLT focused on supporting Latinas’ dream of being college or university-bound.

From day one, LLT also dedicated itself to connecting middle and high school Latinas to professionals – especially Latina/o professionals – across a variety of careers. These connections are carefully cultivated to provide students with insight into their career options and information on how to successfully open the doors of opportunity.

Today, LLT provides programming to Latina middle and high school students in three key areas: CORE (Creating Opportunities to Reach Excellence), ELITE High School Academy (Exemplifying Leadership in a Team Environment), and Latina Labs. Additionally, programming now extends to Latina students across Northern Virginia and portions of Maryland.
